TRAIL DIFFICULTY RATINGS

1-

Our least challenging tours traveling entirely on graded dirt/gravel roads focused primarily on the history and scenery of the area. Frequent stops are made at historic markers, points of interest, and scenic overlooks. These tours are suitable for vehicles such as Subaru Outback’s and Toyota RAV-4’s.

2-

These tours travel mostly on well-maintained dirt/gravel roads but do venture onto roads less traveled that require the use of 4WD and benefit from having traction aid devices (limited slip differential, locking differential, electronic traction control).

3-

You will spend a large percentage of these tours on rough terrain in 4WD. Technically challenging obstacles that require spotting will not be uncommon. Higher clearance vehicles with traction aid devices, skid plates, and rock sliders are recommended.

4-

Our most difficult tours. You will spend the majority of the time on rough terrain in 4WD with occasional technical obstacles which require 4-Low and a degree of confidence in your driving skill. Higher clearance vehicles with traction aid devices, skid plates, and rock sliders are recommended.
